Jerry's playing is great on that STOF- one of my favorite JGB performances and you're correct about how great that tour is. I still like fall 1982 better, probably because I never liked the keyboard player from 1980 and not because of the quality of the playing.

Right there with you on 82 being really strong, I also have to throw in early 82 along with the fall shows.

Cranking the Saddlerack show from 3/7 as we speak. Blistering.

Did I mention this version of Harder They Come is, hands down, the best version I've ever heard? Melvin's solo is a thing of beauty and Jerry tears it up like he was on a desert island and a crate of Twinkies washed ashore.

That's the other thing about the spring 1980 tour - literally half the band were amateurs. I think Jerry & John dug a little bit deeper to compensate. Ozzie had the weirdest keyboard sound I've ever heard -

Also, 1982 had the girls - they were a great addition

Yes, dug the girls in '82. Some even publicly showered and loved to laugh when they found out it was going to work for me.
Jerry was like that...
